At the recent MIDO 2026 exhibition in Milan, COMES proudly presented the latest addition to its technological AR-Family of Box Coaters. This compact machine is designed specifically for small ophthalmic lens production laboratories, for testing and development purposes, and for educational use in laboratory settings.

The new Box Coater combines high precision with efficiency, capable of processing up to 20 lenses per cycle and equipped with a Turbo Molecular Pump, ensuring consistent vacuum quality and deposition control. Its compact footprint makes it ideal for laboratories where space is at a premium, without compromising on performance or versatility.

COMES’ continuous innovation in coating technologies has resulted in highly relevant processes for Blue Block lenses, achieving higher screening percentages than the standard lenses currently on the market, alongside optimized classical deposition techniques. Special emphasis has been placed on multilayer anti-reflective coatings, achieving superior optical quality while reducing cycle times and production costs.

From anti-reflective and dielectric mirror coatings to colored, hydrophobic, and anti-static treatments, the AR-Family Box Coater delivers a versatile solution that balances high-quality output with operational efficiency. The system represents a strategic investment for any type of laboratory, from the smallest to large-scale serial production, seeking to enhance product quality, maximize process stability, and optimize overall production costs.

With this launch, COMES reinforces its leadership in technological innovation for ophthalmic lens coatings, offering small-scale laboratories access to professional-grade PVD processes previously limited to larger production facilities.
